Wife of Edo state Governor, Betsy Obaseki Battles To Save Her BOI job
The First Lady and wife of Edo state Governor, Mrs. Betsy Obaseki has been caught up in between two jobs as she struggles to hold both. She struggles to keep both her job at BOI and the job of the First Lady. Her husband, Governor Godwin Obaseki was sworn in on November 12, 2016.
Reports said despite expectations that she would do the needful by relinquishing her job at BOI in order to focuson the First Lady’s job, she has however continued to hold down to her job at the Bank of Industry, BOI, where she heads the Strategy and Planning unit of the bank’s subsidiary, BOI Investment and Trust Company, BOITC. According to a source who pleaded anonymity, it said, having waited in vain for over three months for Mrs. Obaseki to turn in her request for leave of absence or retirement letter, BOI recently wrote her to either proceed on leave or retirement. It said the Edo First Lady, upon receiving the letter from BOI, the week before last, rushed to the bank’s headquarters at Broad Street in Lagos to plead for time to take decision. “Had it been she is serving in Lagos as the First Lady, the management of the bank would not have bothered because she can still make it to the office regularly but not in this case where she is in Benin,” the source said. “The long and short of the story is that her job in BOITC is suffering,” another source in the bank said.
