80% of Persons Living with disability don’t get Justice in Nigeria- Ambassador Edionewe
Mrs. Becky Ehisienme Edionewe, Chief Executive Officer, Aid People Change Naija a registered nonprofit organisation, NGO in Ireland and Nigeria, has decried the harrowing experiences and glaring exclusion of persons living with disability in Africa precisely Nigeria.
According to Edionewe, “I would say this isn’t the Government’s audacity or blames but human to human discrimination has upgraded since the birth of our motherland Nigeria where parents and friends constantly degrade persons with disability.
“It’s time Nigerian Government applies a severe law to this unbearable act of our fellow Nigerians. Aid People Change Naija has acknowledged millions of cases uncovered whereby 80 per cent of Persons With Disability, PWD couldn’t obtain justice in Nigeria. Majority are women and teenagers. The ability inside disability was firstly discovered by our Aid People Change team in Ireland and Nigeria.”
It could be recalled that last month in Benin City, the Edo State capital over 3000 Urine Sacs and lots of orthopedic kits were distributed by Aid People Change Naija volunteers in collaboration with AMC1D Projects International arms, AMC1D Aiuta Bambini Onlus, a global accredited NGO based in Italy and Africa founded by a Philanthropist and also a Reggae star, Kingsley Eno Osagie.
Osagie is professionally known as Winning Jah, who fueled the initiative of medical services and music therapy to the PWD in Benin city.
Adding, she said, “Our aims and Objectives at Aid People Change Naija is simple and easy to achieve. We have started to contact various companies and banks to restructure their public entrance by creating ramps with accurate measurement and not hills as accessibility for wheelchair persons certainly obliged by law.
“All companies are obliged to employ minimum 30 per cent of PWD into their services, it could be call center, Accountants, Entertainment sector, sports etc, to eradicate social exclusion in our country Nigeria.
“We cannot do it alone, we have recycled most necessities for PWD from Ireland and Italy that will benefit PWD in Benin city and other states whereby signals have reached us in Nigeria, we still need funds for shipping useful materials to be given out for free.
