My Son was Murdered Over Dispute Arising From My Husband's Will- Mrs Florence Omorodion
A Benin- based woman, Mrs Florence Omorodion, whose son was allegedly murdered over dispute arising from the content of the Will of her late husband, has appealed to the Inspector General of Police to take over investigation into the circumstances that led to the death of her son.
Esosa Omorodion, was said to have been allegedly axed to death in the front of his house on July 1, 2017 barely a week after one of his brothers had gone to the court to contest the content of the Will.
Mrs Omorodion who was earlier issued with a letter of threat by an unknown persons allegedly over the Will, in the petition to the IG, through her counsel, Mr. Olayiwola Afolabi, insisted that she had no confidence in the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 5, saying that the principal suspect in the murder (name withheld) had promise to influence the outcome of the investigation into the murder case.
She also appealed to the IG not to allow the case to be transferred from the Anti – Cultism Unit of the Edo State Police Command that is currently investigating it to the AIG Police Zone 5 as the unit was capable of unravelling the circumstances surrounding the death of her son.
She alleged that the principal suspect in the case, in his bid to cover up his involvement in the murder while investigation was still on, had written a frivolous petition to the office of the AIG Police Zone 5 in his bid to stop the Anti – Cultism Unit from continuing with their investigations.
According to the petition, “It is therefore, our client’s complaint that despite the fact that investigations was ongoing and the Anti- Cultism Unit of the Edo State Police Command is about to complete their investigations and unravel the facts and those who masterminded the murder of Esosa Omorodion, the said principal suspect and his cohorts want to compromise police officers in AIG Police Zone 5 to influence their investigations.
“We therefore, on behalf of our client call on you to use your office to allow the Anti – Cultism Unit of the Edo State Police Command to complete the ongoing investigations into the death of Esosa Omorodion unhindered and prevent the transfer of the case file to the AIG Police! Zone 5 office.”
