Benin-City: Three Arraigned for ‘Threatening to Turn Victim to Tortoise’

Three suspected thieves, who allegedly threatened to turn their victim to a tortoise, have been arraigned at an Oredo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Edo State.

The suspects, Kelvin Orji, Mohammed Ahmed and Agbonbaye Ogbe, also allegedly robbed their victim, Emmanson Sunday, of one HP laptop and N110,000.

They used the victim’s ATM card to withdraw N357,722, after threatening to turn him to a tortoise.

The offence was committed on May 8 at 19, Asemota Street, off Uselu Lagos Road, Benin City.

The suspects pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge bordering on conspiracy, robbery and assault.

Police prosecutor Patrick Agbonifo prayed the court to verify the addresses of the sureties.

The Magistrate, F.E. Akhere, adjourned the case till September 6 for hearing.
