Edo State Govt Officials are Coming to London. Should We Welcome Them or Not?

Lady mechanic and pride of Edo State, Sandra Aguebor, prominent Edo citizens and companies who have exceled in various endeavours are to be honoured in London, United Kingdom.

While Sandra will be receiving an award of excellence for her prowess in a her chosen profession, at the sixth edition of the Edo Festival and Award, holding on November 4, other award categories include the Most Outstanding Local Government Chairman during the Oshiomhlole administration and the best transport company in the state.

According to the Chairman, Ken Odeh, the event will feature Edo cultural dance, fashion show, music and awards to distinguished personalities who have contributed to the growth of Edo State.

Except for the award of excellence which will be given to Sandra, Edolites and friends of Edo are expected to vote by logging on to www.edofestivalandawards.com to vote for the most outstanding local government area Chairman and the best transport company.

He said the purpose of the Edo Festival and awards is to raise awareness about the Edo culture to other land and especially for Edo State indigenes that have been away for so long.

Odeh said this year’s event, with the theme, Youth Empowerment, will have in attendance the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, the Commissioner for Art and Culture, and other prominent Edo State indigenes.

Apart from the annual Edo festival which holds in London, Odeh, said the organizers are targeting to build skill acquisition centers in the three senatorial districts of the state, with the hope of training Edo youths.

While explaining that over 500 youths will be trained in each of the senatorial districts in the state Edo state, he however solicit for partnership from the state government and other well meaning individuals and corporate bodies in the state.

Apart from this, he said they are looking for ways of partnering the state government in the areas of having an investment forum, where foreign investors would speak with Edo people and the state government on ways to invest in the state.
