News Announcement From The Odionwere UK & Ireland
The Benins in diaspora led by Odionwere Pa (Engr.) Bernard Woghiren and the Odionwere Council have condemned the “Purported 21-Day ultimatum” to Edo State Government and the Oba of Benin by some so-called 'Ijaw freedom fighters’. The Odionwere unequivocally denounced the illegal attempt to install a pretender “Pere of Olodiama Kingdom” in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State. He reminded Ijaw settlers in Edo State that any act aimed at creating another paramount ruler in the state is provocative, illegal and criminal. It is a breach of Edo state local government laws and is in contravention of the Supreme Court ruling of September 3rd 1986.
Pa Woghiren further urged all youths, elders and the entire Ijaw community living in the Ovia Local Government Areas to maintain peace and be law abiding; reminding them all, there is only one Paramount ruler in Edo South Senatorial district, the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N' Oba N' Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo . All local government areas in Edo South are in his domain. The Odionwere warned all to heed his advice; saying, “there will be painful consequences for those who try to cause any disturbance within the Benin Kingdom”. A word, as the saying goes, is enough for the wise.
