Moves to Establish Marine base in Edo
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris on Thursday ordered the establishment of a Marine Base in the Edo State Police Command.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Babatunde Kokumo at the State Command headquarters in Benin.
He stated that the establishment of the marine base would stop crimes as waterways in the state were being used to kidnap victims to neighbouring states of Ondo and Delta.
“The establishment of marine base will ensure that our waterways are safe and are no longer used to ferry kidnap victims.
“The Base would be located in one of the communities in the waterways.
“We will not rest on our oars in our fight to reduce crime and criminality from the State,” Kokumo said.
