Edo LG Poll: Fresh Crises Looms In Edo APC As Governor Obaseki Endorses LG Candidates Across The Sta
The member representing Orhionmwon and Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr Patrick Aisowieren has directed leaders of his faction in the twelve wards of Orhionmwon to select a councillorship candidate each from his faction only.
Mr Aisowieren said his faction which he claims to be Governor Godwin Obaseki's group has been mandated by the Governor to pick candidates across the Local Government.
In compliance with the directive, the leaders of his groups in the area met in their respective leader's house at the weekend to screen their aspirants.
Aisowieren had assured his faction that Governor Obaseki has assured him that his Special Adviser on Politics, Chief Osaro Idah would screen list from Orhionmwon and ensure that only those from his faction are accepted by EDSCIEC.
He reminded them that the Governor has always accepted his list over that of former Deputy Governor, Pious Odubu and his group.
He said Governor Obaseki still dreads Dr Odubu as a likely rival for the next election and as such the Governor is desperate to bury Odubu politically.
He revealed that the fear of Odubu's possible re-emergence as rival aspirant was why they all resolved to remove Comrade Erhahon who is known as Odubu's backbone.
Confronted with latest report that the Governor has warned him against dropping his name in connection with factional activities, Aisowieren said the Governor was only fooling Odubu and his group.
He said the Governor has just given him a chairmanship candidate from Benin to present for the next Orhionmwon election.
He said Governor Obaseki and his predecessor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole were the ones who first authorised him to find a replacement for Comrade Godwin Erhahon as State Publicity Secretary several months before Comrade Erhahon was removed.
"If I could remove Erhahon and wipe out Buhari's CPC legacy from both government and party positions in the state, who else can stand on his way?" he added.
