BENIN — GOVERNORSHIP candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the September 28, 2016 election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize- Iyamu, has commended the people of Uromi for not allowing themselves to be used to cause confusion in the community over the deposition of their traditional ruler, Anslem Eidenogie II, by former Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu made the commendation during a solidarity visit to the Ojuromi and the people of the community by leaders of Edo State chapter of PDP led by Chief Dan Orbih.
He said: “We all know what happened and for now, we will not dwell on it because the matter is being addressed. We appreciate you because people thought that what happened would divide Uromi Kingdom. You have demonstrated that you cannot be intimidated; you have demonstrated that you cannot be conquered or subdued. The truth will always prevail and injustice cannot thrive where justice reigns. Let me assure you that at the appropriate time, you will be vindicated.”
Speaking, Chief Orbih who is also the Esama of Uromi Kingdom, said the party was in Uromi to appreciate the people who supported and voted for the party during the last governorship election.
“We are here to demonstrate that we appreciate the type of support we have in Uromi and to demonstrate our sympathy with them over what happened recently. People of Uromi have witnessed uncommon development and good roads, the climax being the establishment of the Institute of Building Technology during the reign of Eidenogie II. Our visit is unique because we will leave here with pride because we met the people and chiefs of the kingdom living in love and happiness,” he said.
Receiving the visitors, the Ozah of Uromi kingdom, Chief Francis Ozah, expressed gratitude to the PDP leaders for the solidarity visit at this time of need.
