BENIN—FORMER Deputy Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Mr Emmanuel Arigbe-Osula, has said Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State is ready to offend people perceived as enemies of progress.
Arigbe-Osula, who is also a chieftain of All Progressives Congress, APC, said with the steps the governor had taken so far, the state would soon become the economic hub of the nation. He urged the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to give the governor a chance to succeed rather than playing politics with the lives of Edo people.
According to him: “From the steps the governor has taken so far and his body language, Obaseki is willing to offend people that stand on the way of progress. If there are people who will not help move the state forward, he will be willing to walk away from such persons. There are peopl, irrespective of party differences who can help move the state forward that he has reached out to. I am proud of his move so far. He has done extremely well in reaching out to people. He has been able to very quickly reach out to those people that can help him make the administration a success. He is open to ideas, he has reached out to the traditional institution. At the end, I think he will keep all his campaign promises because he has been working hard. If we are patient with him we will see great improvements in Edo State beyond what Oshiomhole did.”
“I think he had an advantage Oshiomhole did not have. When Oshiomhole came, those who surrounded him were the same people who destroyed the state. So, he did not have the foundation of having loyal people and people who dreamt along with him, but Obaseki had that. Though Oshiomhole was able to convert some of those people which worked to a large extent but initially he did not have his own kind of people. So, Obaseki is already doing well. He is already working very hard to the admiration of a lot of people. It is a pleasant surprise to many to see how dedicated he is committed to Edo State. He is making some of his worst critics turn to his fans very quickly into his administration which is very good.”
