Healthcare Services: Obaseki Commend Minister Of Health

BENIN CITY – Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has commended the Minister of Health for State Dr. Osagie Ehanire for his commitment to reposition healthcare services in the country in spite of the daunting challenges inherited by the President Muhammad Buhari led administration.

He gave the commendation while receiving the Minister of Health for State, Dr. Osagie Ehanire on a courtesy visit to government house.

 

Governor Obaseki appreciated the Ministry of Health for its commitment to reposition healthcare services in spite of daunting challenges inherited by the present administration.

He said healthcare assets can be better utilized when flexibility is created between public and private care so as to allow private healthcare providers utilize public facilities while impacting the system with their skills. He therefore suggested that collaboration between public and private healthcare providers to stem cases of incessant strike as it was negatively affecting Nigerians.

Obaseki while commending the federal government for the release of 1.5million dollars to every state under the six pillars of save one million lives programme, sought support in obtaining accreditation for state owned institutions responsible for training nurses and other primary healthcare providers.

Earlier, the minister commended Governor Obaseki for his scientific approach to addressing issues in the health sector and other sectors in the state.

Ehanire said that the Federal Government through the ministry had come up with policies and schemes geared toward reforming of health care delivery in the country.
He said that government had created a committee to resolve the issues of salaries and wages of health workers and incessant strikes in the sector.

He said the Federal Government was currently repositioning the primary health care system to take health care to the grassroots.

The minister said that plans were ongoing to link the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary health institutions for the purpose of having an effective refferal system that could be made up of an ambulance service.

Ehanire also said that plans to extend health insurance scheme to the state levels were also been worked out. He, however, urged the state government to give support to the management of the Federal Government health facilities in the state.
