Mr. Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving the standard of education in the state.
Governor Obaseki stated this when he received executive members of the Idia College Old Girls Association (ICOGA) at the Edo State Government House.
The governor lamented the standards of
education in the state declaring that his
administration would complement the provision of educational infrastructure with better teaching and learning standards.
“We are re-thinking our education sector;
something went wrong and it has taken us from the enviable position we used to occupy. We are assessing what went wrong and what can be done to revive the standard of our education system. Education is not all about having the infrastructure, but about the content of the instruction and morals”, he said.
Meanwhile, the president of the association, Mrs. Madeleine Igbinoba commended the governor on his policies aimed at remodeling basic and
vocational education in the state.
The governor further urged members of the
association to assist the state in assessing the
current standard of education in their Alma Mata.
