THE EKASA SPIRITUAL DANCE
Ekasa dance is a Spiritual dance of divination Performed during the coronation of an OBA and the burial ceremony of the IYOBA ( Queen Mother ).
Ekasa was first introduced to the kingdom by the IYOBA ( Queen Mother ) Queen IDIA, The Mother of OBA ESIGIE in the 16th century..
Three groups are involved in the performance of Ekasa Spiritual Dance. The Ogbelaka, which is the head of the group, the Eguadase and the Eben.
The Ogbelaka and the Eguadase features prominently during the coronation of an Oba.
While the third group known as the Eben feature more during the burial ceremony of an Iyoba (Queen Mother).
The Eben however still performs during the coronation of an Oba but not as prominently as the Ogbelaka and the Eguadase.
While the Ekasa spiritual dancers from Ogbelaka and Eguadase also participates during the burial ceremony of an Iyoba (Queen Mother) .but not prominently. The Eben dancers features here more.
