Edo State House of Assembly has adopted a resolution calling on the various relevant authorities to provide succor for displaced persons in Osomhegbe and Udaba Communities in Etsako Central Local Government Area, who were displaced by flood as a result of a recent rainfall in the area.
Moving the motion under matters of urgent public importance the member representing Etsako Central, Damian Lawani said apart from destroying crops in their farms, the flood also sacked the people from their homes.
The member who was supported by some other members called for urgent attention and assistance to the displaced victims to cushion the effect.
The speaker Justin Okonoboh while sympathizing with the people stressed the need for succour to be provided for the people.
The house also observed a minute silence for the former Justice of the Supreme Court and uncle to the Edo State Governor, Justice Andrew Otutu Obaseki who died recently.
Meanwhile, students of School of Agriculture Iguoriakhi have appealed to the state Legislative Arm to intervene in the lack of facilities in their institution.
The students made the appeal during a protest to the House.
The speaker, Justin Okonoboh advised the protesting students to put their grievances through a proper petition in order for the House to look into the issue holistically.
