Finally... our Meet The people Tour of Edo State, came to an end yesterday with our final Town Hall meeting in Oredo LGA, followed by a sumptuous lunch/reception hosted by the Oredo LGA chapter of the PDP. It was an intensive one week of 2 to 3 town hall meetings per day, one in every local government headquarters, traversing the entire 18LGAs in exactly one week. It was an experience. This accounted for my brief absence from facebook.
So, back to the matter. It has been an interesting new year, with letters flying all over. I intend to write mine soon, once the Generals are done. The Nigerian narrative, today, is unarguably deplorable and unfortunate. It beggars belief that anyone with genuine faculties will still openly speak in favour of the unfortunate leadership we have. From the sorry economic status of majority of Nigerians, to the unending trauma of killings by herdsmen and the seemingly rudderless ship of state, it is a daunting task to think Nigerian, for many today. While waiting for a friend in the car yesterday, a couple of young men stood by lamenting to themselves about the four nil loss to Morocco, the previous night. One of them retorted: "ol boy if to say I get money, I for just carry my children and my wife go live for another country. Even if na Cameroun sef... wetin Nigeria dey do for person. Abeg who Nigeria don epp?".
The level of despondency in Nigeria today is indescribable, but you may not get it until you travel through the hinterland. I have been through a week of unbelievable sights and sounds of Nigerians in despair, pain, anger, anguish, frustration, fear and revulsion.
It baffles one to think that after 3years, the Buhari administration can not deliver on any one of its numerous promises, on which 15m Nigerians voted for them. The disappointments are clearly echoed by the hordes of locals who are decamping back to the PDP, with tales of woe and regrets. Even as some Buharists blame the woes on the last administration, I find clear aptitude in the musing of Sule Yesufu, a management expert, that "it appears my economics is failing me here. How did the dollar manage to hover around N170 for 4 years under "massive looting" and now hovers around N350 under "massive savings?". Serious food for thought.
I doubt its a time to continue whining but its surely a time to come together, to begin to chart a new "change" for our country. During one of our meetings in Fugar, Etsako Central LGA, a former APC Governorship aspirant, who decamped to join us last week, warned sternly that "if Nigerians dont kill APC, APC will kill Nigeria". He also noted that the 2019 battle is not between APC and PDP... its between APC and Nigerians. This, I strongly agree with. I guess Obj and IBB have seen through all these too and decided to ensure that history will vindicate them. In this season of letters, I urge all knowledgeable Nigerians to put pen to paper now and write their letters, but before then, make sure you validate your PVC or go and register NOW. That is the only way to change the change.
Very soon, I will write my own letter to President Buhari.

The Edo PDP "Meet The People Tour 2018" may have ended but the overall message coupled with the interactive nature of the town hall meetings across the 18 LGA(s) of Edo state which recorded immense success and the harvest of decampees remains bountiful.
