The former Governor of Edo state Adams Oshiomhole and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been ordered to appear before a federal high court in Abuja on Oct 23rd 2018, to answer allegations of corruption and illegal use of public funds during the 8 years of Oshiomhole's tenure as Governor of Edo State .
Bishop Osadolor Ochei, who filed the motion, said he was very satisfied with the court ruling after several letters and petitions to the EFCC against Oshiomhole's conduct since October 2016 had been ignored. The Bishop has accused Oshiomhole of playing politics with the future of Nigerian generations and stated he has accumulated enough evidence including pictures, receipts and the palatial lifestyle Oshiomhole lived at the expense of Edo State's development.
Barr. West Idahosa, representing the plaintiff, said a feat has been achieved and this is the first bite of the cherry. The court ordered for Oshiomhole and EFCC to be served a motion no later than 13th October 2018. stating they must appear in court on 23rd Oct.2018. Suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/628/ 2018 filed by the Bishop's counsel, Dr. West Idahosa, has Oshiomole and the EFCC as first and second respondents respectively.
The court wants the EFCC to explain why it has not arrested or prosecuted Adams Oshiomhole who is currently the chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC) over the alleged fraud.
This comes on the heels of Buba Galadima's interview last week, calling for Oshiomhole to explain to Nigerians where he got his wealth from, calling him a common tailor before coming into Edo state's governance.
We suspect this case will go on to include covering up financial and associated crimes by installing Godwin Obaseki as Governor of Edo State, and vote buying.
